У статті подано теоретичний аналіз природничо-наукового спрямування перших програм та схем дослідження психіки душевнохворого в історії Вінницької психоневрологічної лікарні імені О. І. Ющенка та спроби виявлення диференціації між душевною хворобою і психічним здоров’ям населення, розкриваються завдання консультативної та діагностичної роботи з психічнохворими зазначеного періоду, розглянуто питання про охорону психічного здоров’я населення Поділля в кінці ХІХ – на початку ХХ століття.
