Purpose. Scientific and psychological study of the specifics of the formation of the self-concept of the individual during its professional development.
Methods. In order to highlight the key lines of research on the outlined topic, we used a system of scientific and theoretical methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization, abstraction, which allowed for a versatile coverage and highlighting of the psychological phenomenology of the self-concept of the individual, in particular during its professional development.
Results. Analysis of the source base on the outlined topic gave grounds to state that the self-concept in systemic unity with the self-image, self-esteem, self-acceptance, etc. appears as one of the fundamental components of personal self-consciousness. The self-concept is built and established throughout the entire life path, acquiring new original age and social outlines and shades. An important direction of modern scientific and psychological research studies in the study of the phenomenon of a person's self-concept is the professional one, which highlights the peculiarities of the formation of this complex construct in representatives of various professions during their professional self-realization. The self-concept plays an important role both in the process of professionalization during training and acquisition of professional competencies, and during direct professional activity.
Conclusions. Self-concept as a product of the development of a person's self-awareness testifies to his acquisition of a full awareness of his own essence and a holistic idea of the multifaceted nature of his self. The level of formation of the self-concept as a set of beliefs and attitudes of the individual regarding himself determines his ability towards self-understanding, self-acceptance and self-realization, the quality of professional relationships and the performance of functional duties, and therefore the productivity of the results of the professional activity performed along with self-satisfaction.
