The article discusses the phenomenon of interpersonal understanding as a component of the psychological and managerial competence. Analyzed the principles of competence-based approach to the assessment of the efficiency of management activities, management competency model and place of interpersonal understanding of the structure of managerial competence. Presents the results of empirical research of the phenomenon and its relationship with the indicators of emotional intelligence on a sample of civil servants.
