The Development of Social and Psychological Maturity as a Factor of Individual Health

Abstract

The results of theoretical and empirical research of the social and psychological maturity features as the individual health factor are described in the article. Theoretical and empirical studies of the social and psychological maturity structure in the light of the individual health have been realized. The relationships between indicators of social and psychological maturity and health of the individual have been established, and the ways of improving the social and psychological maturity through the development of students’ information stance for health promo­tion have been suggested. So then, social and psychological maturity is an indicator of a high level of youth development, which is extremely important for every healthy individual and for society in general. Since acquiring the prerequisites for social and psychological maturity has been already laid in childhood, then the level of maturity may also be different, depending on age, sex, family, the level of identity and sociali­zation, as well as an understanding role in society by young man. Thus, the deve­lopment of social and psychological maturity is psycho­logically conditioned stage of a healthy person growth, the characteristic features of which are the levels of independence and self-sufficiency development. At this stage, the personality realizes her/his own social, civil and economic rights and obligations, is aware of group norms of behavior, and also uses a critical attitude to the situation in a particular society, bearing in mind the role in it, the atmosphere, the requirements and expectations of each member, using all the proper information about this group of people, basing on the own experiences, beliefs, priorities and goals.
