Abstract

Purpose of the article is to carry out an analytical study of psychological features of military self-acceptance of the individual, in particular, among cadets of military institutions.

Methods. In order to ensure the fulfilment and achievement of the research goal, we applied the methods of scientific and theoretical study of the problem: analysis, synthesis, generalization, abstraction, which allowed us to ascertain the peculiarities of the studied phenomenon - the military self-acceptance of modern cadets.

Results. The problem of military self-acceptance is considered in the broad context of scientific and psychological research devoted to the psychological characteristics of the military. Military self-acceptance is interpreted as one of the leading components of an individual's self-awareness. It is based on self-knowledge and creates prerequisites for the formation of self-regulation, self-development, self-realization and self-actualization in military affairs. Military self-acceptance is perceived as emotional-evaluative, cognitive and behavioral components of self-awareness, which are manifested in the positive attitude of a person who has chosen military activity as his profession, towards himself and self-acceptance at the level of conscious and assimilated military subjectivity.

Conclusions. Positive self-acceptance of cadets of military institutions is formed primarily due to the ability to multifaceted self-reception at the level of physicality, sociality, spirituality, etc. The formed military self-acceptance gives the cadet grounds to become more adaptable, stronger and more successful in military training and personal growth. Self-acceptance at the level of status-role and physical identification as a «man in a uniform» serves as a guarantee for the formation of an adequate military self-acceptance in a cadet, as well as confidence, courage, pride, patriotism and other prosocial traits.
