Abstract

Purpose. Materials related to the phenomenon of psychotrauma have been studied, clarified and summarized; the results of empirical study of the manifestation peculiarities of psychotrauma of mothers whose children have diabetes are represented in the article.

Methods. The main approaches to the understanding and establishment of methods of diagnosis of the manifestation peculiarities of psychotrauma are described. Manifestation peculiarities of psychotrauma of mothers whose children have diabetes were diagnosed using the following methods: Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), "Traumatic Event Impact Assessment Scale" (IES-R), "Self-Assessment Scale for the Presence of PTSD" (pcl-c) (civilian version), Quality of Life Rating Scale (O. Chaban).

Results. It is noted that in the case of traumatic events, a person encounters events that may threaten a person's life or physical integrity with the high probability that such events will lead to psychotrauma. Having analyzed the scientific literature devoted to the problem of psychotrauma, we can note that one of the traumatic events that lead to the occurrence and experience of psychotrauma is serious illness of a loved one. Mothers whose children suffer from diabetes experience emotional reactions in connection with the illness of one of the family members: confusion due to complete or partial helplessness; constant worry about the future; feelings of fear, guilt, depression, disappointment, frustration, rage caused by the intractability of the problem of the disease itself.

Conclusions. It is determined that in the majority of the studied subjects, indicators of anxiety and depression have subclinical manifestations. Significant part of the respondents rate the reaction to the stressful situation (trauma) as moderate. However, almost half of the sample may be diagnosed with PTSD, which requires additional research and clarification. The results of the correlation analysis of the relationship between the indicators made it possible to identify those factors that negatively affect the course and manifestation of psychotrauma and reduce the risk of disorders caused by psychotrauma. It is noted that the prospects for further research are the creation of the program of psychological support for families with children suffering from diabetes using effective psychotherapeutic techniques. Iimprovement of the program of empirical and diagnostic research aimed at identifying the manifestation peculiarities of psychotrauma of such category of persons, in particular the study of the level of PTSD manifestation.
