Conscious Attitude of Individual as a Factor of Informa¬tion and Psychological Safety of Human

Abstract

The dependence of the individual conscious attitude to information and information and psychological safety is highlighted in the article. Modern scientific achievements in the field of informational psychology are presented. The main forms of information and psychological influence on personality are investigated. The relationship between conscious attitu­des to information, that exist in such information space as semiosphere, and social adequacy of social and psychologically mature person who has wide information and psychological safety, are grounded.

The results of empirical research of identifying the main cross-cultural differen­tiations in conscious attitude of Ukrainian and American students are described..The study involved 250 respondents from Lesya Ukrainka Eastern-European National University (Lutsk, Ukraine) and University of Central Arkansas (Conway, United States). The study was based on the authorial questionnaire, in which the attitude to information derived from different spheres of life: sports, family, professional growth, etc., was taken into account. Also, the main sources of information the most appro­priate for students of both countries were analyzed.

As the selection information source depends on the degree of interactivity the relevant distinctive and common features were followed. Results of our research has shown that information is an important component of modern students. Young people of both countries express adequate attitude to information. There are many similarities in the implementation of cognitive, emotional and behavioral functions of information among students of Ukraine and the USA, but some differences present as well. This explains with the different conditions and living standards, the fund of knowledge, not the same level of  information environment filling, different access to new information  technologies and the possibility of free usage sufficiently.
