Professional Self-fulfillment as a Psychological Problem of Police Officer’s Effective Training

Abstract

Reforming the law enforcement requires the psychological characteristics of future police officers contributing to the harmonious development of a new professional that will help to ensure the proper rule of law. The article examines the nature and role of professional self-fulfillment as a component of personal development. The author notes the necessity of studying the psychological content of the phenomenon and analyzes the current research on the subject. The question of the study of professional self-fulfillment of the future of law enforcement officers, in particular employees of the patrol police of Ukraine is discussed. The problem of the training of personality for the effective self-realization fulfillment lays the foundations for a successful professional self-determination and self-fulfillment still at the stage of general education. Very important is the presence of a tendency of police officers to a professional self-realization, because it provides self-improvement of a human in the physical, intellectual, moral and spiritual aspects. An analysis of theoretical approaches to this issue which are presented in the current literature, and empirical studies of this phenomenon, suggests that professional self-realization is one of the most important forms of life of self-fulfillment in life. The article presents the results of empirical studies of the general level of professional self-fulfillment of professional and the level of the different its components in the sample of the students of primary training courses of patrol police. It was found that the subjects are focused on continuous selection of new professional goals, are oriented to design their own professional development, are characterized by the tendency to disclose personal potential in the profession, by the desire to develop their own abilities in the context of professional activities, by the need for professional self-improvement. At the same time, for future patrol policemen less important is the use of the Professional experience of other professionals for their own professional self-improvement and development of professional competence, and it requires extra attention in the organization of training programs and in the process of forming the team interaction in professional activities. On this basis, the diagnostics of the specifics of the psychological aspects of professional self-fulfillment of new patrol police officers in the early stages of professionalization is actual in order to optimize their training and psychological support of professional activity.
