Abstract

Purpose. The article is devoted to the theoretical substantiation and empirical study of typological personality predictors of the tendency to experience and express loneliness as one of the possible manifestations of distinctive behavior.

Methods. To implement the tasks of the empirical study, standardized and valid psychodiagnostic methods were used, such as the test-questionnaire “Differential diagnostics of the tendency to experience loneliness (DYSPS)” by O. Sannikova, V. Bedan, and 16 PF-questionnaire by R. Cattell (form PF-105-C).

Results. In the process of comparative theoretical analysis of scientific research, it was substantiated that loneliness from the point of view of psychology is not only a destructive phenomenon. In some cases, and especially in war conditions, it becomes a manifestation of distinctive behavior of the individual. In turn, such behavior is considered as a way of expressing individuality, often associated with going beyond the boundaries of widespread social influences and embodying an attempt to be different from everyone else in some way, which does not always have destructive consequences. According to the results of the empirical study, respondents demonstrated a moderate level of loneliness in almost all its components: motivational, psychophysiological, emotional, cognitive, conative, reflective-analytical, adaptive-protective, as well as an indicator of its internal acceptance. High indicators were found only in the control-regulatory component. The studied sample is also characterized by a tendency to isolation and independence, anxiety and sensitivity to mood changes, emotional instability, introversion, moderate ability to adapt in the social environment, as well as high responsibility and devotion to one's beliefs and values. A number of relationships between the components of loneliness with these and other typological psychological characteristics of the respondents were revealed.

Conclusions. In conclusion, it was stated that loneliness can act as one of the ways of experiencing and expressing one's own unique inner world, primarily for closed and unsociable (factor A), emotionally unstable and intolerant of frustrations (factor C), indecisive and shy (factor H), suspicious and egocentric (factor L), creative and dreamy (factor M), anxious and insecure (factor O and F1), with low self-control (factor Q3), frustrated with real life (factor Q4), low self-esteem (factor MD), as well as introverted (F2) personalities.
