Analysis of Techniques of Effective Impact on the Child in Stepan Baley’s Studies

Abstract

In his article, the author, exploring the psychological heritage of Stepan Baley, found that the scientist created and scientifically substantiated own consistent system of education of the child. Psychologically justificated the theory of education offered by Stepan Baley is a logical system based on humanistic aim of education, understanding of his factors, covers the following interrelated and interdependent elements of both principles, contents and methods of education. Stepan Baley, as a consistent supporter of humanistic ideas, defined the basic principles of education, pointing to their close relationship. He singled out the principles of humanism, subjectivity, taking into account age and individual characteristics as the main in the process of education. Stepan Baley was one of the few psychologists who offered to take into account the peculiarities of temperament in the child’s upbringing and education. Stepan Baley saw an important purpose of education in a single and equitable development of all the forces of the child, his abilities, to the extent that it has them. The basis of the educational process is cultural, historical, theological and psychological components. To the factors that affect the education of the child, Stepan Baley attributed family, state, church, defining the specific role of each of these factors in education. He was convinced that all the factors are related, influence each other, while the deficit of any level of education causes one-sided development of the child. Methods of education offered by Stepan Baley it is a clear system of means of educational influence on the personality of the child. To the methods of education he attributed requirement, guidance, reminders, advice, praise and persuasion. Academic put forward the pedagogical methods that aim to promote child and had an extremely negative attitude to the use of punishment in the process of education, believing that it causes in children a sense of shame, fear and humiliation.
